Wayward Baking
A Heartfelt Brand Identity
When Tim Veatch opened Wayward Baking in Los Osos, CA, he envisioned a cozy, home-away-from-home where the community could savor naturally leavened sourdough and delicious pastries made from organic, seasonal ingredients. Nestled in a quiet beach town off Hwy 1, this bakery was his leap of faith, opening during a pandemic to bring handcrafted delights to the local community.
As the graphic designer, photographer, and web designer, my role was to create a brand that matched Tim’s passion and vision. The challenge was to design a visual identity that resonated with the community while capturing the cozy, New England-inspired vibe Tim adored. Inspired by Tim’s culinary journey, I hand-drew sketches, eventually crafting a unique cursive logo and a ‘W’ icon for to-go cups and take-away items.

The website was designed to be user-friendly, allowing customers to pre-order online and make reservations for special events like "Monday Night Pizza." Reflecting the bakery's ambiance, the site made it easy for customers to order their favorite treats and stay updated on new menu items.
The branding extended to the bakery’s decor, creating an inviting space that felt like home. The success of the project was evident in the positive community feedback and the seamless adaptation to the new pre-order system. If you’re looking for a designer who can capture and translate your vision into a cohesive brand experience, let’s connect and create something truly special.
