Negranti Creamery + Scoop Shop

When Negranti Creamery, a family-owned business famous for its 100% sheep's milk ice cream, decided to open their flagship Scoop Shop in Paso Robles, CA, they had a vision: a brand that felt timeless and modern, one that could grow with them as they expanded over the next five years. They wanted a fresh look but didn’t want to change their existing ice cream packaging, which heavily featured sheep imagery.

As their freelance graphic designer, I knew I had to strike a balance between innovation and consistency. The family wanted to convey their unique offerings while creating a versatile design that could also accommodate future product lines, including vegan and cow's milk ice cream. This meant shifting the focus from sheep’s milk without losing their established brand identity.

Some early sketches from my sketch book

I started by diving into what made Negranti Creamery special: their commitment to quality, unique sheep’s milk ice cream, and family-oriented approach. I kept their black and white color scheme for consistency. After several rounds of design exploration and refinement, I developed a sleek, sans-serif logo paired with a golden ice cream cone icon. This icon became the heart of their new branding, representing the delicious product that draws customers in.

The biggest challenges were maintaining brand cohesion and broadening the focus of their branding. The black and white scheme ensured a smooth transition, while the ice cream cone icon effectively captured their expanding product range.

The success of this project was clear. Negranti Creamery not only opened their flagship store but also expanded to five more locations and launched a range of merchandise. The new branding met and exceeded their expectations, providing a strong, recognizable identity that continues to grow with the company.
